THE LOCAL AREA
Our
house is under ten minutes from Kissimmee & perfectly placed to take advantage of
all that Central Florida has to offer. Attractions & theme parks are all
within easy driving distance. There are air boat rides at Boggy Creek which is around 15 minutes away or you may prefer the view from a hot air balloon or helicopter, alternatively take the controls of a genuine World War 2 fighter (no flying experience necessary) at Warbird Adventures in Kissimmee. Experience the 116 acres of nature reserves, walking trails & parks that make up the Reedy Creek Nature Reserve that surrounds Crescent Lakes. If you ride horses, or would like to try, take a trip to the Horse World riding stables which are less than 5 minutes from the house. Walt Disney World is 15 minutes from the house and remains the most popular reason to visit Central Florida. That said, there are so many other reasons to visit the area than just the worlds greatest Theme Parks. For details of numerous attractions please click on Weather & Links at the foot of the page. The main Kissimmee strip is several miles long, it has shops, bars, restaurants & several attractions of it’s own. The local supermarkets are Wal-Mart (big enough for a full days shopping), Publix, Win-Dixie & K Mart. They are large & well stocked with many familiar brands & in most cases they have in store pharmacies as well as ATM’s. Eating Out: Kissimmee is heaven for lovers of junk food. There are plenty of "all you can eat" buffets for breakfast, lunch or dinner but the local area also boasts many high quality dining establishments that serve food from all over the world.Most restaurants give free refills of tea, coffee & soft drinks & one thing is certain, you will never leave a restaurant hungry. Portions are so big that you may want to skip a starter to manage the main course. Nightlife: As well as the abundance of daytime activities, there is plenty to do after dark. America's No1 dance club (Mannequins) is at Downtown Disney, as is The Comedy Store & Cirque du Soleil. This 120 acre waterfront complex is also home to The Rock ‘n’ Roll beach club, Pleasure Island Jazz Co, Adventurers club & a host of other night-spots, clubs & restaurants.
Universal's City Walk is packed with restaurants & clubs like the Motown Café, Margaritaville, City Jazz, the Nascar Café, NBA City, Emerils Restaurant Orlando, (owned by US TV Chef Emeril Lagasse) & also the worlds Largest Hard Rock Café. Dinner Shows:
Kissimmee & Orlando have plenty, there's the Car Parks are huge & never full so you can park easily but why not take advantage of the free beer & wine refills at most themed restaurants & take a cab? Shopping: Big discounts are the norm on designer wear & you'll be spoilt for choice in the Factory Outlets & Malls. One of the largest shopping areas in Central Florida is the Florida Mall which is on The Orange Blossom Trail around 25 minutes from the villa. There are over 250 stores of every variety imaginable. Most shops here (as in the majority of malls) will accept US$ Traveller Cheques as readily as cash. The newest complex in the area is the Mall at Millennia. Located on Conroy Road just off Interstate 4, it houses some of the Americas most famous names. You can find Bloomingdales, Macy's, Neiman Marcus & over 100 other world class stores. If you are looking for a particularly special gift (& money is no object) then this is the place to go.
Old Town has the Friday and Saturday night classic car cruise. The larger of the two, The Saturday Nite Cruise®, is in it's 14th year and going strong! Around 325 classic cars, hot rods, street rods, and antiques come to Old Town to cruise every Saturday. They start rolling in to Old Town at about 1:00pm for you to look over & photograph. The cruise itself starts at 8:30pm & runs for at least 30 minutes. There is also live Rock-n-Roll on the Old Town stage from around 7:00pm. Home Villa Details Villa Photos |
Kissimmee is a suburb of Orlando & has grown up over the past 30 years around
Walt Disney World which in turn has brought vast amounts of other attractions of
all types to the area.

Old Town,
on Highway 192 (about 10 minutes from the house - it's home to the
Ferris wheel you drive by on the way back from Disney) has plenty of
restaurants, bars & shops selling unusual items. They have a specialist candle
store, a shop that only sells collectable cards as well as one will sell you a
six foot high inflatable coke bottle (if you can find a use for it).
Browse a while,
take in the old fashioned fun fair or go-karts with
twin seat karts so that the kids can ride along too. If you are
feeling really brave Old Town has the worlds highest Skycoaster - see the links
page for details of this 300 foot high ride which is only for the very bravest
(or craziest).
